About This Grant

The Aboriginals Benefit Account provides grants from mining royalty equivalents paid by the Australian Government. Funds are distributed to Aboriginal land councils and Aboriginal-controlled organisations in the Northern Territory, with some grants available nationally through competitive rounds.

The ABA Advisory Committee makes recommendations on grant allocations. Priority areas include economic development, social well-being, and cultural maintenance.

Eligibility

Aboriginal organisations, Land Councils, and community-controlled bodies. Primarily Northern Territory focused but national competitive rounds are periodically available.

How to Apply

Detailed project proposal, budget, evidence of community support, and organisational capability documentation. Larger grants require governance and financial management evidence.

Barayamal Tip

If you are an NT-based Aboriginal organisation, start with your local Land Council to understand how ABA funds flow. For national rounds, watch GrantConnect closely as they open irregularly.
