The foundation supports projects across four granting areas aligned to the things that ANZ cares about most. Financial Wellbeing – particularly for under-represented and disadvantaged people. Environmental Sustainability – initiatives that restore and conserve the natural environment or contribute to water stewardship, lower carbon emissions and waste minimisation. Housing Access – for people at risk of homelessness, or provide support for people living with a disability. Thriving Communities – targeting disadvantage, inequity or marginalisation. The Foundation supports small to medium sized projects run by charitable organisations that offer a direct and tangible benefit to local communities.

Organisations must have DGR1 status and have a recognised charitable purpose.

Legal requirements: Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR1)

In line with The Charities Act 2013 some purposes are not legally recognised as charitable even if they have DGR1 status: sporting and recreational clubs; social clubs; professional or trade groups. Individuals; political organisations; religious or sectarian organisations involved in purely religious/sectarian activities; foundations that are themselves grant making bodies; bequests/fundraising/appeal programs; schools/parents and friends committees; hospitals, universities, medical centres or medical research institutes.
