The Barayamal Pre-Accelerator is for Indigenous Australians in Victoria, which will provide training and mentoring to kick-start your entrepreneurial journey.

Ideation
Develop creativity by identifying potential problems and effectively communicate ideas and solutions by pitching to other members (optional pitch).

What is a startup?
Discover what a startup is and how to start your own “startup” (process and examples e.g. The Lean Startup Methodology).

Start your own Startup
Using the tools and skills from Day 1 – participants have the opportunity to develop and validate their own business idea.

How to Pitch Workshop
30 min workshop on how to pitch to investors and what to include in the pitch deck.

Dean served five years in the Royal Australian Air Force before founding Australia’s Indigenous business accelerator, Barayamal – now known as a world leader in Indigenous Entrepreneurship. Dean is an action-oriented entrepreneur, former Microsoft RAP Advisory Board Member, CSIRO STEM Award Winner, Indigenous Digital Excellence (IDX) Entrepreneurship Award Winner, and proud Kamilaroi Man from Gunnedah, NSW.

Stephen Mam
Founder & Executive Director at SIBW

Stephen comes from a strong cultural background, grounded in his Torres Strait Islander heritage. Stephen extends his passion for the community as the Executive Director / Founder of SIBW, a cultural publishing & events business, sharing the richness of culture. Stephen is also the Executive Director / Founder of The MYX, a social enterprise bringing the community together and supporting community-based learning. Stephen advocates the importance and spirituality of identity, place and relationships.
