Dear Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, The Hon. David Harris MP,

I hope this email finds you well. I am following up on my email sent on 28th April 2023 regarding the management and operation of the Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) under the Administrator, Mr. Tim Gumbleton.

As you may recall, I expressed concerns about the lack of progress and outcomes achieved by Mr. Gumbleton since his appointment on 14th December 2022. Our community has been directly affected by the absence of an Advisory Committee and operational improvements at the Red Chief LALC.

I am writing to bring to your attention a pressing issue: we have scheduled a charity raffle event to be held at the Red Chief LALC community centre.
Unfortunately, Mr. Gumbleton has not allowed us to run this event, further impacting our community. We believe his lack of action in creating an Advisory Board and event policy continues to hinder our ability to serve the Gunnedah Aboriginal community effectively.

It has now been 10 days since my initial email, and I kindly ask if there has been any feedback or action taken on this complaint. As the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs and Treaty, your support and prompt response in addressing these concerns would be highly appreciated.

Thank you once again for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your timely response and any steps you may take to help our community move forward in a positive direction.

Yours sincerely,

Dean Foley

Kind regards,

Outcome

After receiving several complaints, including one against Tim Gumbleton and another against the individual handling the complaints at NSW Aboriginal Affairs, I reached out to Tim once again regarding the raffle. Surprisingly, this time he took action and progressed the event.

It seems that they make it difficult for Aboriginal individuals who try to do the right things but are not easily controlled…
