Complaints and feedback — We’re listening.

Barayamal welcomes feedback and takes concerns about its programs, platforms, people and communications seriously — and raising one will never cost you your place here.

Before anything else

You’re safe here

Privacy, anonymity and cultural safety come first — the process bends around you, not the other way round.

Stay anonymous if you wish

You may withhold your name. Without a way to contact you, Barayamal may be unable to investigate fully or respond — but it’s always your call.

Bring a support person

You can involve a support person at any point in the process.

Your way of contacting

Ask for a preferred contact method, or tell us about cultural, disability, language or access needs that would make the process safer and more accessible.

Need-to-know only

Information is shared only with people who need it to assess or respond, subject to legal and safety obligations.

Raising a concern in good faith will not affect your access to Barayamal programs or services.

How to reach us

Two ways to say it

Feedback is a suggestion, compliment or general comment that may not need a formal response. A complaint is when something went wrong and you want it reviewed and answered.

Feedback

Share a thought

A suggestion, a compliment, a general comment — send it through and we’ll take it on board. No formal response needed.

Share feedback

Goes through Barayamal Feedback — quick and open-ended.

What helps

Tell the story in five parts

What happened When it happened The program or page involved The outcome you’re seeking Any supporting information

Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information — start with what’s needed to understand the matter, and we’ll ask if more would help.

What happens next

The journey of your concern

No black hole — here’s the path every concern travels once it reaches us.

We record it — and let you know

Barayamal records the concern and confirms it has been received, when contact details are available.

We assess it properly

The matter is assessed for urgency, safety, privacy, conflicts of interest and the information needed to respond.

We look into it

Barayamal may ask for clarification, speak with relevant people and review available records.

You hear back

You’ll be told the outcome or next step when a response is possible. If a fixed response date can’t be given immediately, Barayamal will provide an update when practical.

Review & escalation

If it’s still not right

Ask for a review

Use the contact form to request a review and explain what you believe was missed.

Where practical, the review is handled by someone who wasn’t responsible for the original decision.

Your external rights stay yours

This process never removes your right to contact:

  • A regulator or funding body
  • Police or an emergency service
  • The charities regulator — see Barayamal’s ACNC record
